One last farewell dinner

These six Elders were included in the group that needed to leave, but the airports closed too suddenly and they were not able to get a flight out of Ecuador and so we decided to have one last farewell dinner.  The next day, Tuesday March 17th, the whole country was under quarantine and you were not allowed to leave your house/apartment unless you were going to the grocery store, pharmacy, or doctors. 

At this point, all traditional missionary work stopped.  The missionaries were only able to do what they could using their dumb phones from their apartments.

The day after these zone conferences, schools were cancelled and all gatherings were prohibited because of the corona virus, so we were unable to continue with our zone conferences.

On Sunday, March 15th, we were told by the area that all of our missionaries who were going to be leaving the next two transfers needed to leave immediately - as soon as we could get flights.  It was quite a shock to all of them when we called them up and told them to travel into Quito immediately because they would be finishing their missions early.  We traveled to the offices and their apartments  to say goodbye, but some left so quickly we were not even able to say goodbye.  It was a hard night for everyone.
